Performing Arts Building Plymouth

The new performing arts building at Plymouth University.

In September 2014, Plymouth University will unveil its new £7million Performing Arts Building.

Creating outstanding student opportunities, the state-of-the-art building will enhance Plymouth’s growing global reputation for artistic innovation and excellence.

With its 200-capacity, sprung-floor theatre, rehearsal spaces and dressing rooms, it will provide an excellent touring venue for Plymouth, helping to foster community engagement and attracting artists of national and international standing, furthering the city’s aim to be the cultural hub of the South West.

New Look Theatre Royal 2013
The Theatre Royal has seen some significant changes after  a £7million Regeneration Project. The theatre reopened on Thursday 26th September 2013 with Fight Night in The Drum, and a sell out launch of the National Theatre’s War Horse tour on Friday 27th.
The Main House has been renamed the Lyric and there will soon be a third performance space ‘The Lab‘ – which will provide a much needed central location for the well recognised community and outreach work.
There is also the award winning production and education centre TR2 based at Cattdown.

The Barbican Theatre is a creative arts organisation situated in the historic Barbican area of Plymouth.

That produce new theatre and contemporary dance with young people as leaders.

To offer as many people as possible, but especially the young, access to, participation in, and enjoyment of high quality artistic activity, without prejudice. This is practised in the belief that such involvement cultivates, inspires and enthuses individuals and communities to explore and express needs and ideas, voice opinions, celebrate together and agitate to provoke social and cultural change.

Devonport Playhouse - Front
