LGBT History Month
Events will include:
The screening of at least Three LGBT themed Films (more may be added subject to funding) creating Plymouth’s inaugural LGBT Film Festival
- Archive Exhibitions in schools, workplaces & Public exhibitions
- Showcase of LGBT+ Artist Work
- Public Talks & Discussions
- A LGBT History Quiz
We are also very exited that our five commissioned LGBT writers that have been working on the ‘In Other Words‘ project since September 2015 will have their work performed as a rehearsed reading at the Barbican Theatre on Sunday 28th February for LGBT History Month.
In addition to the rehearsed readings the Plymouth LGBT Archive will be on show at the Barbican Theatre along with other aspects from the ‘We’ll Meet in Moscow‘ project. The day will end with a public talk and LGBT History Quiz in the B-Bar.
As part of our ongoing educational work we will also be taking our mobile archive exhibition into schools using our local LGBT history resource to educate, whilst helping schools recognise and deal with homophobic and transphobic bullying.
The Pride in Plymouth LGBT History Month events are supported by a grant from the ‘Plymouth City Council Diverse Communities Event Grant’ that is administered by The Drake Foundation.
