Today, 31st March 2014, was a big day in the production of the newly christened “Heaven is a Place” film being produced as Plymouth’s contribution to the international Heaven on Earth? project.
Plymouth’s OMG club threw open their doors to the production team, performers and Pride in Plymouth volunteers (who have participated in the workshops over previous weeks) to come to the club and create visuals that will inform various scenes in the film. Lots of outrageous looks and movements were tested in the space, as the three groups worked together to create some unforgettable visuals. The club were even kind enough to involve two of their barman who will take part in the actual filming next week.
The project in partnership with Plymouth University has provided a unique opportunity for Pride in Plymouth to involve members of the city’s LGBT community in a kind of project that, for many of them, sits outside their normal day to day experience. At the same time, though, the film is benefiting from the unique perspective and stories that the community members can bring to the film . . . and we can’t wait to see the results when the film premieres on 29 June 2014 at Plymouth Arts Centre.
