We kicked 2016 off with a fantastic fund raising auction held at Le Vignoble wine lounge in Plymouth’s historic Royal William Yard. The level of support provided by local businesses was overwhelming and demonstrates the increasing support as we make plans for Plymouth’s fith annual LGBT pride festival presented by Pride in Plymouth. The festival will return to Plymouth’s iconic Hoe on Saturday 13th August 2016.
In addition to Le Vignoble providing the location for the auction and all the companies listed below that offered items to be included in the auction, we are very grateful for the staging and technical support kindly provided by PL1 Events Limited.
Our fundraising activities not only supports the main summer pride festival but also our other projects and events supporting and promoting the LGBTQ+ communities of Plymouth and the surrounding area.
Pride in Plymouth (CIC) works throughout the year, from our office space in the Plymouth School of Creative Arts, Millbay, promoting awareness of Plymouth’s LGB and T individuals and communities. This work takes place in schools, businesses and by maintaining a continuing presence and visibility at city wide events. We also organise various social, educational and awareness events of our own through the year. Many of these include displaying the work of our LGBT heritage project, particularly during LGBT History month in February, and in 2016 will extend to Plymouth’s first LGBT Film Festival. Other events support national and international campaigns such as ‘Hate Crime Awareness Week’, International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, Transgender Day of Remembrance and Bi Visibility day.
